How to Print in Word

Once you have produced a document in Word you will often want to print it.  For safety, I always advise saving the document first – although this isn’t essential for printing.  As you may already have realised – there is always more than one way of doing something on a computer. Printing is no exception.  I will tell you how to print in Word in two different ways – but there are others.

In Word 2007:

{+}

Either

Hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard and then press the P key.  (Ctrl + P is a keyboard shortcut).  This will bring up the print dialog box.

Or

Click on the Office button at the top left of your screen and choose “Print”.  You can usually ignore all the options on the right and just CLICK DIRECTLY ON THE WORD PRINT.

This will bring up the print dialog box.  If necessary you can change the number of copies you want to print, or choose which printer to use.

Usually all you will need to do is click on OK at the bottom right of the dialog box. (NOTE - your dialog box may look a bit different, depending on which printer you have installed and which version of Windows you are using)

Word 2003 and earlier

Either

Hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard and then press the P key.  (Ctrl + P is a keyboard shortcut).  This will bring up the print dialog box.

Or

Click on “File” on the menubar at the top of the screen and then click on “Print” from the drop down menu.

You will get the same dialog box as above.  Follow the instructions above.  (NOTE - your dialog box may look a bit different, depending on which printer you have installed and which version of Windows you are using)
